After its annual awards banquet was postponed one week, due to inclimate weather, the Jackson Heritage Association presented its annual awards Feb. 5.
The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer, pastor of Emanuel Untied Church of Christ, received the 23rd annual Jackson Heritage Award. Roethemeyer has been pastor of Emanuel since 1988. He has served as president of the Jackson Ministerial Alliance for 10 years and has been on the Music Academy Advisory Board at Southeast Missouri State University and is on the city's Human Relations Board and the SALT and TRIAD senior citizen boards.
Six "Unsung Hero" awards were also presented. Betty Myer, Rusty Hartle, Fern Schultz, Beverly Nelson, Edna Hawethorne and Paul Scholl were each honored.
