Rodney Carrington to perform at Show Me Center Saturday

Despite canceling a show at the Show Me Center in April, tickets to comedian Rodney Carrington's Saturday performance are selling well.

"It look likes he is pacing ahead of some of his other shows here," said center marketing director Shannon Buford. He said he did not know the exact number of tickets sold.

Buford said Carrington usually draws a sizable crowd to the center.

"He is well-known for his comedy songs. They are hilarious and catching. Once you hear it, it will be in your head all night," Buford said.

While Buford said Carrington's performance is sure to be entertaining, it is not intended for young audiences.

"It is definitely aimed at adults. It is for mature audiences," he said.

Lee Chapman plans on attending Carrington's performance Saturday. He said the comedian seems like a regular person who discusses mundane topics but in an entertaining way.

"I like him because he seems like a normal, everyday guy that talks about normal, everyday things, but he turns it around and makes it funny," Chapman said.

Buford said he has met Carrington twice and agreed with Chapman that Carrington is a nice guy who seems to care about the fans.

Carrington will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, and the doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $41.75 and are available by calling the Show Me Center box office at 651-5000. Buford said customers purchasing tickets at the Show Me Center box office will not incur any convenience charges.
