Amethyst, a local rock group, will perform with the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band tonight. The band will perform its eighth scheduled summer concert at 8 p.m. at the band shell in Capaha Park.
Conducted by Jon Fisher, the band will perform "Ozark Overture," a work by former band member Charles W. Smith. Other selections will include: "Horns a Hunting," "Fandango," songs from the musical, "Promises, Promises" and "On the Esplanade."
Central High School students will supply a novelty number: "A Dixieland Funeral," and Kermit "Moose" Meystedt will be the evening's celebrity conductor.
Concerts are provided through the city's Parks and Recreation Program.
