A Cape Girardeau man will stand trial in September for his alleged role in a robbery.
Jesse Boyer, 34, will appear for a jury trial Sept. 29 before judge Benjamin Lewis.
Boyer is charged with once count each of armed criminal action and first-degree robbery in a beating and theft March 31 on North Middle Street in Cape Girardeau.
A witness told police a man struck the victim in the head with a gun and ran toward a house on North Frederick Street, according to a probable-cause statement. The man later was identified as Boyer.
A bag of prescription medication was torn during the altercation, and Boyer allegedly picked up the pills before fleeing, the statement said.
The victim suffered an injury that was not life-threatening, according to previous reporting.
Boyer waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty May 26.
