UNION, Mo. — A 31-year-old man who allegedly threatened to cut off a man’s head is instead nursing a headache of his own.
KMOV-TV reported Dwight Abernathie of Imperial is facing several charges after a robbery attempt in Union.
Court documents state Abernathie approached a 27-year-old man on a trail, put a knife to his throat and threatened to cut off his head if he didn’t turn over his valuables.
The man had only a phone on him, and court records state Abernathie agreed to drive with him to presumably to get his wallet. Instead, when they arrived at an apartment complex, a friend of the victim attacked the suspect with a baseball bat and punched him in the face. The men then held the suspect until police arrived.
