The Jackson man accused of robbing Horst Pharmacy Nov. 2, and a suspect accused of wielding a sword at Cape Girardeau's Wal-Mart the day before were both bound over to Division I for arraignment.
Jeffrey E. Lattimer waived his preliminary hearing Monday in front of Associate Circuit Judge Gary Kamp. He is expected to enter a plea in Division I on Dec. 20.
Lattimer, 48, was charged Nov. 10 with a felony count of pharmacy robbery. According to the probable cause statement, Lattimer entered the business Nov. 2 and claimed he had an explosive device in a gym bag he was carrying. He allegedly demanded three types of medications -- Fioricet, Xanax and Valium -- be put into another bag.
Police caught up with Lattimer, a retired police lieutenant from El Paso, Texas, when he was checked into Southeast Missouri Hospital on Nov. 9.
Lattimer remains in the Cape Girardeau County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
Richard Taylor, 57, of Chaffee, Mo., will enter his plea Dec. 13 in Division I. Taylor is charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of resisting arrest, two counts of assault of a law enforcement officer, one count of property damage -- all felonies -- and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
According to the probable cause statement, Taylor was arrested Nov. 1 for allegedly brandishing a sword at Wal-Mart, 3439 William St. He allegedly was behaving erratically and reportedly tried to stab two police officers before he was finally subdued.
Taylor remains in the Cape Girardeau County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
