The Cape Girardeau Police Department is searching for a suspect after a reported robbery Thursday night at a Jasper's convenience store. According to Patrolman Darin Hickey, department spokesman, at about 8 p.m. a male subject entered the store at 407 Morgan Oak St. and displayed a knife to the clerk. He demanded the store's money and during the course of the robbery allegedly assaulted the clerk by hitting her on the head with a beer bottle....

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is searching for a suspect after a reported robbery Thursday night at a Jasper's convenience store.

According to Patrolman Darin Hickey, department spokesman, at about 8 p.m. a male subject entered the store at 407 Morgan Oak St. and displayed a knife to the clerk. He demanded the store's money and during the course of the robbery allegedly assaulted the clerk by hitting her on the head with a beer bottle.

The subject, described as wearing a black shirt and red shorts, made off with an undetermined amount of money.

The clerk sustained a laceration to her forehead and was treated at a hospital.

Hickey reported the investigation was ongoing and said the subject was still at large Friday morning.
