The Cape Girardeau Public Works Department announced concrete slab repair and replacement work will close a portion of Bertling Street at the intersection with Big Bend Road in Cape Girardeau beginning Monday. The work is expected to last one week, weather permitting. During construction, traffic will be detoured around the work zone. Bertling will be closed to traffic at the Sprigg Street intersection, where traffic will detour north on Sprigg and east on Lexington Avenue to Big Bend. Traffic on Big Bend will travel north, then continue west on Lexington and south on Sprigg. Motorists are asked to use caution when driving through work zones and consider using an alternate route.
