Bridge Construction closes part of Cape Rock

The next phase of summer road closures in Cape Girardeau begins July 5 with work to upgrade an existing bridge on Cape Rock Drive near Dennis Scivally Park. A portion of Cape Rock Drive will be closed for several weeks, including the weekend of July 6-7. Contractors will start this portion of the project July 5 to ensure smooth traffic flow to the area before fall classes resume at nearby Alma Schrader School. Detour signs will guide drivers around the work area; motorists are asked to use caution and consider using alternate routes.
