Cape Road Runners will hold its annual 500-meter road run and fitness walk at Arena Park Oct. 11.
A one-mile event for youths and adults and a one-quarter mile pee-wee run for children age 5 and under will also be held.
A half-marathon run, 13.1 miles, will start at 7:30 a.m. from the A.C. Brase Arena Building.
The 500-meeter, a 3.1-mile distance, is on a nearly flat course, with the start and finish at the Arena Building. It begins at 7:35 a.m. The one-mile event starts at 8:15 a.m.
Awards and ribbons will be given.
The entry fee includes a long-sleeve race T-shirt and post-race refreshments. The one-mile event is free, with no T-shirts.
Entry forms are available at the Southeast Missourian, Howards, the Chamber of Commerce or from Joy Gilbert, 335-3617.
The Cape Girardeau Fire Department is helping to sponsor the race. Freddie the Firetruck and the smokehouse display will be among activities.
