Beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday,Highway 61 will be reduced to one lane, between Route D and I-55 in Fruitland. Northbound and southbound lanes will be affected while road crews repair road shoulders. Drivers can expect an 11-foot lane restriction.

Weather permitting the work will be completed by 4 p.m. Thursday.

The work area will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in the road repair zone.

Oak Street down to one lane

Oak Street in Jackson will periodically be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction over the next several weeks. Crews from Fronabarger Concreters, Inc. are building a recreation trail along the roadway. Construction is currently scheduled on Oak Street, between North West Lane, east to Elwanda Drive. The work will be don, weather permitting, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

The work zone will be marked with signs, and people with flags will help direct traffic. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.

The deadline to complete the trail is mid-August, according to Jackson's public works director, Rodney Bollinger, who said he doesn't think it will take that long.

MoDOT has planned the following road projects:

In Cape Girardeau County, Highway 72, west of Millersville at Whitewater Bridge, will be reduced to one lane while crews take pavement samples. The work is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday,

A six-mile stretch of Route B in Bollinger County, from Route M north to Highway 72, will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews trim roadside brush. The work is scheduled to start at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and continue through 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Route DD in Bollinger County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction while MoDOT crews perform drainage work.?

The repairs are scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Tuesday through 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, starting a mile-and-a-half north of Highway 34 near Grassy.

Northbound I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform concrete repairs.

The section of road scheduled for work is a half mile south of Highway 32 through the exit. With cooperative weather, the project begins at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and continues through 5 p.m. Thursday.

All MoDOT work zones will be marked with signs. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while traveling through construction zones.
