Motorized vehicles, bicycles or skateboards will not be allowed on the closed street sections. Vehicles parked on the streets will be towed.

Some barricades may be placed in the downtown area beginning this evening to allow workers to prepare for Riverfest.

The Main Street parking lot will be reserved parking and Missouri Route 177 will be re-routed onto Lorimier Street. There will be no parking on the east side of Lorimier Street from Themis to Broadway from 11 p.m. today until the close of Riverfest.

To try to relieve traffic congestion, the police department is encouraging people to take advantage of the free shuttle bus service being offered during Riverfest. Motorists may park their cars at either the Show Me Center or West Park Mall. The service will transport riders to the intersection of Main and Independence.

The service will run from 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday and during Riverfest hours on Saturday.

Due to traffic congestion and limited parking, any illegally parked vehicles in the downtown area may be towed.

Intersections along the Riverfest parade route also will be closed temporarily Saturday. The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will run from Capaha Park east on Broadway to Water Street.
