Charles K. Werner, president of the River City Workers of the Blind, recently attended a legislative session in Jefferson City to support bills concerning blind individuals. River City Workers of the Blind is part of the national organization Missouri Council for the Blind, which aims to promote the welfare of the visually impaired.
Bills considered at the session concerned rights of people with service dogs; revision and enforcement of disabled license plate and placard holders; promoting jury service to jurors with disabilities due to vision or hearing that can be compensated for; and unlawful discriminatory practices.
The River City Workers of the Blind will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 11 at Cape Girardeau Public Library. Interested individuals are welcome. For more information, call Werner at 334-7422.
