RISCO -- Nancy Wheeler of Risco High School has been selected to perform at the 1992 summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.
She will join 89 other girls from the United States to perform thematic dance programs at halftimes of various basketball games during the Olympic competition and possibly at some soccer games as well.
Encore International of Salt Lake City, Utah, is coordinating the trip. The company organizes and choreographs halftime entertainment and celebration programs.
Wheeler was selected through audition and resume. She was a trophy winner in a dance competition in Columbia, where she was the youngest contestant to ever win an individual trophy for talent and spirit. She is also an honor student at Risco High School.
The girls must pay for their own trips, approximately $3,500. The organizing company encourages the participants to find corporate sponsorship.
