Getting people revitalized and getting others involved in the anti- abortion movement are goals of a conference this weekend at the Bavarian Halle near Fruitland.

Connie Drury, chairwoman of the Southeast Region of Missouri Right To Life, said the conference is for people who share anti-abortion beliefs and haven't been active in expressing themselves.

"We also want to show people that we're not that bad," she said. "We don't shoot abortion doctors, and the group I'm with doesn't picket places or anything like that."

But it is important to express the anti-abortion message to lawmakers, Drury said.

Legislators will be on hand Saturday to discuss getting in touch with them about political issues.

In addition, the Rev. Gregg Cox of the American Center for Law and Justice and Dr. John Willke, a lecturer and TV and radio personality, will address the conference.

Registration begins today at 5:30 p.m. with Penny Lea, a well-known anti-abortion speaker and writer, addressing the conference later in the evening.

Saturday, registration begins at 8 a.m. with Cox and Willke among the speakers, presentations and other activities throughout the day.

Cost of the conference, which is open to the public, is $15 per family or $7 per individual. Baby-sitting services for small children will be provided.
