Ribbon-cutting today for downtown Cape restrooms

Cape Girardeau city officials will celebrate the newest addition to downtown amenities today -- the completion of a public restroom facility and parking lots along Broadway between North Main Street and the Mississippi River floodwall. A ribbon cutting will be held at 2 p.m. today for the new facilities, which include landscaping, benches and lighting. Security near the restroom will be provided by two cameras linked to the city's 911 communications center with continuous recording. The parking area provides 57 parking spaces for cars, six for motorcycles and a bicycle rack. Funding for the project included at $371,400 Community Development Block Grant.
