Rhodes 101 Stop Convenience Store has opened operations at 449 S. Kingshighway.
"This is the 15th Rhodes 101 Stop in the chain, which ranges through Southeast Missouri," said Paul Dirnberger. "This store is the prototype for the new ones to be built. The interior has new graphics, is very colorful, and is painted in the new company colors maroon and silver."
Dirnberger and Jim Maurer, both of Cape Girardeau, own the property and building, and are leasing it to Rhodes 101 Stop Convenience Stores Inc. The partners are employees of the Rhodes Oil Co.
Vince Draper of Stockade Buildings Co. constructed the facility, which is located just south of Schneider Equipment Co. The store has access to both Kingshighway and Bloomfield Road.
"We have new multi-product, high-speed dispensers for the gasoline," Dirnberger said. "Each pump has all grades of gasoline and pump faster than standard ones. The four pumps have a total of 24 hoses."
Inside the 3,000 square foot store, the deli offers a variety of sandwiches, barbecue and Chester Fried Chicken. The soda fountain offers carbonated beverages and non-carbonated drinks and fruit juices. The store has seating for 32 and is open 24 hours a day.
This is the sixth store in Cape Girardeau for the 15-year-old chain.
