Cape Girardeau County treasurer Bill Reynolds announced Thursday that he will run for county commissioner.

Reynolds, who has served 24 years as the treasurer, will run on the Republican ticket. He is the second person in two days to announce he is running for the seat which is currently held by Joe Gambill. Cape Girardeau Councilman Jay Purcell announced Wednesday that he will also run for the office. Gambill said he has not yet decided to run.

"I feel I have enough experience and I feel I know some ways to save money, improve efficiency and increase morale in the county," said Reynolds, a former Missouri County Treasurer's Association president.
