KENNETT, Mo. -- Officials investigating the Nov. 14 fire at the Kennett Country Club are asking for assistance from the public in solving the case.
Investigators have determined the blaze that resulted in a total loss of the country club's clubhouse was arson. The fire is being investigated by the Kennett Police Department, the Kennett Fire Department, the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
"We are asking that anyone with information about Monday's fire call the Missouri Arson Hotline at 1-800-39ARSON," said State Fire Marshal Randy Cole. "The hotline allows members of the public to call anonymously and offer information about a fire. Information leading to a conviction can lead to a reward of up to $5,000."
The reward money comes from fire service organizations and the insurance industry. No state funds are used.
A passing motorist noticed the blaze and called 911 at 10:22 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14. The clubhouse, which housed a restaurant and pro shop, was 60 percent involved when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters from Senath, Mo., Hayti, Mo., and Caruthersville, Mo., assisted the Kennett Fire Department in fighting the blaze.
