Immanuel Lutheran Chruch of New Wells celebrated a confirmation reunion of all former confirmands and their families on Aug. 21. The day began with a worship service at 9 a.m. with Rev. Immanuel Lutheran Chruch of New Wells celebrated a confirmation reunion of all former confirmands and their families on Aug. 21.

The day began with a worship service at 9 a.m. with Rev. Rick Patzwitz officiating.

A total of 293 were in attendance for the church service. Of the 400 confirmands invited, 143 were in attendance from the states of Arkansas, California, Illinois and Missouri.

A catered lunch was served during which Bill Koch, a 1957 confirmand from Villa Ridge, served as master of ceremonies.

Musical entertainment was provided by Floyd and Eileen Clippard of Oak Ridge. Other entertainment included a group singing of a variety of German and English songs including Schnitzle Bank led by Herb and Harlan Petzoldt.

Appreciation gifts were presented to Rev. Patzwitz, Bill Koch and Susan Ludwig. A number of attendance prizes were also awarded.

The remainder of the afternoon was spent renewing old acquaintances and reminisching.

The group plans to hold another reunion in five years.

The planning committee for the most recent reunion consisted of Lynn Ludwig, Verna Dell Petzoldt, Joyce Versemann, Melvin Hoffman, Lavanda Perr and Lillian Schreiner.
