EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. - The Illinois Department of Transportation said Wednesday the resurfacing of 2.3 miles of Route 3 from the Route 3 and 146 junction near East Cape Girardeau, to near Gale, Ill. will begin July 27.
One lane of the highway will be closed to traffic while the work is going on, IDOT officials said. The contractor, Southern Asphalt Co., Inc., of Mt. Vernon, Ill., will remove the old asphalt surface and replace it with a new asphalt pavement.
Officials said signs will be posted prior to the start of work as a reminder to motorists to watch for one-way traffic and men and equipment.
The work will take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
