In last week's poll, the Southeast Missourian asked, Do you think the United States should seek a military or diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear ambitions? (529 votes)?
* 42.9 percent: Diplomatic -- we can't afford another war
* 39.5 percent: Diplomatic, then military -- seek peaceful solutions first
* 14.7 percent: Military -- they're forcing our hand with the nuclear talk
* 2.8 percent: Undecided
* "Why should we have the bomb, and tell another country they can't."
* "Diplomacy never works with fanatics."
* "We should just leave Iran alone and worry about Iraq."
* "U.S.A. cannot control the whole world. Stop trying."
* "If we invade Iran, China and Russia will side with them. It is a huge mistake to believe we can invade Iran without them intervening."
* "Definitely try the diplomatic approach! Another war right now would tear this country even further apart, emotionally, politically and financially! Start with an embargo, if not already in use and cut off any and all financial aid that may be going to Iran."
* "How do you negotiate with any hopes of a positive outcome with a maniacal mindset that has already announced to the world that they are going to wipe Israel from the face of the map. A mindset that also said to the United States and the U.N. if you do not officially recognize our right to build a nuclear arsenal, then we will get busy and build a nuclear arsenal! What exactly would be your negotiating plea? Please don't hurt us because our news media has conducted numerous polls that prove Democrats hate George Bush?"
* "Nuke 'em."
* "I do not believe we should do anything. Until we are willing to do away with our nuclear weapons we have no right nor reason to stop another country's ambition."
* "I really think we should just ignore it or tell them go ahead, they are just fulfilling Bible prophecy anyhow; They hate Jesus but they're helping Him fulfill prophecy! That would curl their toenails!"
* "Bush already has bankrupted the U.S.A."
* "Any war in the future is doubtful. Can't trust Democrats for any sustained support. Democrats will weaken their resolve and blame a president for their weakness."
* "If the left had not abandoned their country and its soldiers in Iraq the task in Iran would have been much easier. To the left, nothing is worth fighting for."
* "There will never be peace in the area once known as Persia.The civilized world needs to deal with these Muslims who would do their best to force their beliefs on the rest of us. Destroy their nuclear plants now not later!"
* "Makes you wonder what is in it for the Bush gang, eh?"
* "Turn them into ashes."
* "Let dust become dust."
* "War is not a solution -- wasn't in Vietnam, wasn't in Iraq, isn't in Iran."
* "Working with the United Nations for a solution is the only action that will be universally respected."
* "Peace does not follow war. War follows war!"
* "War, as a solution to international disagreements, is obsolete. War will only create more problems and never solve the original disagreement."
* "I can't afford $10 a gallon gas and a depression! Impeach Bush. Worst president ever!"
* "But, Bush will pursue military to get people's mind off his myriad of failures in every area."
* "We don't want another war. War is obsolete."
* "Take a nuclear first strike off the table!"
* "An attack on Iran would constitute aggression barred by the United Nations Charter and prosecuted at Nuremberg. The United States government should respect international law and pursue all peaceful, diplomatic means for resolving its dispute with Iran."
* "We must actually begin a diplomatic solution. How can our leader's claim to be taking the diplomatic route when they are not even willing to talk directly with the government of Iran? Diplomacy is, and must be, direct dialogue!"
* "Make them glow for a thousand years."
* "Bush broke us."
* "I think we should deal with Iran in a timely manner. I would rather we would stop the nuke issues early before they have time to use it."
* "End of the world."
* "goarmy.com"
* "Two disasters ??"
* "Bring our kids home! No one died when Clinton did!"
