CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Members of the Malaysian Student Association at Southeast Missouri State University have planned "Malaysian Night `91" as a way to introduce people to the Malaysian culture.

Asokan Vasudevan, vice president of the club, said the dinner and dance will be held April 12. It will feature 10 different types of Malaysian dances and nine varieties of food from the country. All dances will be performed by students.

Vasudevan said it's the first time the club has hosted such a show. "It's really a stepping stone for other cultural organizations to introduce their cultures to Americans," he said.

Tickets for the event are $9.99 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. They can be purchased from the Malaysian Student Association by calling 334-3265 after 4 p.m. Reservations must be made by Monday.

The dinner and dance starts at 6 p.m. in the University Center ballroom.
