Approximaely 150 residents living in the area west of Dearmore Court off of Hopper Road have been issued a "boil water order" which will go into effect at 8:30 a.m. today. The precautionary order is expected to last until 3 p.m. Thursday.
Water service will be interrupted during the morning and early afternoon while workers seek to repair a gasket failure.
Residents in the affected area have received notices at their doors alerting them of the interruption in service.
Officials say during the time period, only water boiled for three minutes should be used for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices, making ice and other activities.
Authorities must issue boil orders whenever water pressure drops below the state minimum of 20 pounds per square inch. Officials from the water division will wait for negative results from bacterial samples before the boil order is revoked.
