Mission celebration for United Methodist Women at New McKendree Church in Jackson, Mo., at 5 p.m. Special speaker will be Jeannette Bragg of Koshkonong, Mo. She is the membership, nurture and outreach coordinator for the Missouri Eastern Conference of the Methodist Church.
Sunday
Special presentation about the history of the Bible at 9:15 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The series with Robert I. Vasholz of Covenant Theological Seminary, will continue Feb. 17 and 24. Valsholz is a professor of Old Testament and also has taught Hebrew.

She is the membership, nurture and outreach coordinator for the Missouri Eastern Conference of the Methodist Church. A reception will be held at 9 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. After the 10 a.m. service, Bragg will participate in an organizational service for the Reagan's Chapel/Pine Hill United Methodist Women's Unit.
Youth evangelist Dustin Loeffler to speak at 6:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Jackson, Mo. A special youth service is planned for the evening.
Catfish supper at Immanuel Lutheran Church at New Wells, Mo. Serving begins at 2:30 p.m. for a family-style meal. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 6-11. The event is sponsored by the Fellowship Club and Lutheran Women's Missionary League with matching funds from Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8252 and AAL 11423.
Monday
Abundant Life women's prayer group will meet at 9 a.m. at Christ Church of the Heartland. Speaker will be Carol McDonnell of Imperial, Mo. Guests are welcome. In inclement weather, when the public schools cancel classes, the group will not meet.
Noon meeting of Cape Girardeau County Christian Women's Club at Holiday Inn. Speaker is Mini Jane Johnston of Kansas City, Mo. Cost is $8.75 per person and includes complimentary day care. Reservations are needed; call Pat Renner at 334-1673.
Wednesday
Ash Wednesday Lenten dinners at 5:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church. "Lent means prayer," is the topic. A worship service will follow the meal each week through March 20.
Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. Lenten worship services will continue each week through Lent. The theme is "walking toward wholeness." For information, call 334-5852.

Friday
Lenten fish dinner served from 4-7 p.m. at upper hall of Knights of Columbus Hall in Scott City, Mo. Proceeds will benefit St. Ambrose, St. Augustine, St. Denis and St. Joseph parish schools. Cost of tickets is $7 for adults and $3 for children 6-12. All carryouts are $7.
