Jerry Statler first told the Copeland members about the calling cards after he learned of it from his son, who is a military chaplain. "He said we could get the cards at discounted rates, and then we found out through the church that we could get the cards for $5." The church has collected $2,129 in all for its project, and the cards will be distributed through a chaplain serving in Fallujah, Iraq, beginning with the lowest ranking soldier and moving up.
