The United Methodist Women of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau will hold their September meeting at noon with a luncheon in the Family Life Center. The program will be given by Norla Northdurff on "Living Together."

Thursday

The Hinsons will perform at Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau at 7 p.m. For more information, call 335-3381.

Several Stonecroft nondenominational Bible studies are being offered during the fall.

The Wednesday morning group with Jane Boren and Judy Leist will continue a study of Genesis.

Jolie McCallister and Pat Hill's every-other-Thursday group will be doing "Know the Truth." McCallister will also be starting a study with preteen girls on Jesus.

Shelly and Stephen Daume's event study will be "Examine the Evidence."

Pat and Tim Schwent, Fritz and Marsha Sander, and Jamie Cox will be having studies also. There are also several ongoing studies at several nursing homes and in the jail.

Church to celebrate 100th anniversary

The First Baptist Church of Advance, Mo., will celebrate its 100th anniversary at 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 12. Interim Pastor Eric Shrum will lead the worship celebration beginning with a presentation of the Faithful Service Award, which is given to selected members in recognition of their dedication to service of the church, members and community. The Rev. Lawrence Kennon, former pastor of Van Buren, Mo., will bring the sermon. He was pastor of the church from 1951 to 1956 and from 1962 to 1967. After a noon lunch, the afternoon service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with special music and the church's historical highlights over the past 100 years, presented by church historian, Larry VanGennip. The church began as a small group meeting in the Goose Pond Hill Schoolhouse and then became the First Baptist Church of Advance.

Biblical Worldview Conference to be held

The Biblical Worldview Conference will be held at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 12. Guest speakers will be Dr. Danny Akin, president of the Southeast Baptist Theological Seminary of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Kevin King, pastor of Anchor Way Baptist Church in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Abbey Road preschool opening Wednesday

A not-for-profit outreach program for preschoolers will be opening Wednesday at First Christian Church. For more information, call Cathy Morris in Cape Girardeau at 450-2925.
