Kelso card party comes to St. Augustine gym
A card party is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 14 at St. Augustine school gym in Kelso, Mo. The cost is $3 per person.
Church to hold kettle beef supper
Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, Mo., will hold a kettle-cooked beef and chicken and dumplings supper Aug. 25. Serving will be from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church. Tickets are $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 12.
Cape church to sponsor annual block party
Cornerstone Church will host its fourth annual Community Block Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 4 in the church parking lot off Koch Avenue. Several community agencies will be attending, including the police and fire departments and a representative of the DARE program. The Teen Challenge choir will sing.
Fruitland church cooks up sausage supper
St. John's United Church of Christ in Fruitland, Mo., will hold a whole hog sausage supper Sept. 7 beginning at 4 p.m. Tickets are $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 12. The meal will be served in the church hall.
DivorceCare seminar to begin
Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church will hold a series of weekly seminars and support group meetings beginning Sept. 12 and ending Dec. 12. the meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. each Thursday at the church.

Hill of Peace reunion set Sept. 29
Former members of the Peace Luthean Church in Friedenberg, Mo., will hold a reunion service at 3 p.m. Sept. 29.
Former students of the parish school and descendants of the area's settlers are invited to attend. The church was founded just south of Perryville, Mo., in the 1830s and disbanded in the 1980s.
The church, today known as "Hill of Peace," is preserved by the Concordia Historical Institute in St. Louis as a reminder of the region's German heritage and the beginnings of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
The Rev. Dr. Martin R. Noland, director of the Conordia Historical Institute, will speak.
Former pastor's wife releases book
Opal Eaker, the wife of a former General Baptist pastor, recently released a book about her family's faith journey.
The title is "Please, God are we almost there?" The foreword is written by her brother, the Rev. Luther Rhodes Sr., pastor of First General Baptist Church in Jackson.
Eaker will be at a book signing from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 17 at The Way Books and Gifts in Jackson, Mo.
Eaker is also the author of a cookbook and is working on another manuscript.
New healing class offered at church
Christ Episcopal Church will begin a new service of communion and healing each Wednesday. The service will be at 5:30 p.m., beginning this week.
The church will hold a course, "The Healing Ministry of Christ" that is open to the public. Topics include embracing vulnerability and confessing our sins, good news, embracing healing and intercession, and extending healings through the faith commuinty.
