Hanover Lutheran plans to start VBS Monday
Hanover Lutheran Church will host the "SonCanyon River Adventure" from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church.
The Vacation Bible school theme is a rafting adventure that includes skits, crafts, games and stories from Scripture.

Catholic diocese gives new appointments
The Rev. Patrick Nwokoye has been appointed as associate pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish in Springfield, Mo. He will begin his duties there Aug. 17.
Nwokoye was ordained as priest June 7 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.
The Rev. Scott Sunnenberg, also a newly-ordained priest, will serve as associate pastor at St. Mary's. He was ordained at the Immaculate Conception church in Springfield, Mo.
The Rev. Gefford Lamprea, who has been serving as associate pastor at St. Mary's, will become associate pastor at Sacred Heart parish in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Other appointments made by Bishop John J. Leibrecht include:
Monsignor William Stanton to serve as parochial administrator at St. Michael parish in Fredericktown. He will continue part-time residence in Cape Girardeau.
Monsignor Raymond Ofr retired as pastor of St. Frances de Sales parish in Lebanon, Mo., and will live in Cape Girardeau. He served parishes in Advance and Glennon.
Catholic student told to leave NC school
LEXINGTON, N.C. -- A Roman Catholic boy who prays the rosary has been asked to leave Sheets Memorial Christian School, affiliated with an independent Baptist congregation, because of his faith.
"Our philosophy is the home, school and church have to complement one another," said Dan Hightower, school administrator.
