Gospel concert comes to Anna church June 29
ANNA, Ill. -- Jerome Green and the Voices of Triumph will be featured at a 7 p.m. concert June 29 at Anna Heights Baptist Church.
A tragic accident last July on Interstate 57 near Dongola first brought the gospel group to southern Illinois. The group's return to the area is an act of gratitude for the care they received following the accident, when two members were killed.
St. John's, Wesley UM host Singing C's
St. John's United Church of Christ in Fruitland, Mo., will host the Singing C's gospel group in concert at 7 p.m. June 29. The group will perform at 10:15 a.m. and at 1 p.m. at Wesley United Meth-odist Church. Lunch will be provided between performances.
Patriotic services planned at churches
Hanover Lutheran Church will hold a special patriotic service at 9 a.m. June 30. Speaker will be Blair Moran, who is the executive director of the Missouri Delta Medical Center Foundation in Sikeston, Mo.
Blair served with the 25th "Tropic Lightning" Infantry Division in the Republic of Vietnam as a combat infantryman serving in South Vietnam. He also participated in the invasion of Cambodia, spending 30 days in combat operations in that country. He is a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He will speak about the flag.
A breakfast will follow the service, and is being sponsored by Aid Association for Lutherans/Lutheran Brotherhood.
The church also will host an evening praise service at 6 p.m. that evening, with the worship team from St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Cape First Assembly also is planning a "Heartland Freedom Celebration" for June 30. The musical will be at 6:30 p.m. at the church and tickets are $3.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Guardians, a nonprofit organization set up to help families of local law enforcement officers and firefighters.
Special guests for the service include Senate President Pro-Tem Peter Kinder, state Rep. Jason Crowell and representatives from the fire and police departments.

Noon prayer service planned for July 2
Bethel Assembly of God Church in Cape Girardeau will be the site for noon worship on July 2. An informal service will allow worshippers to pray for our country.
