Seven Scouts receive Catholic scouting awards

Seven boys from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Pack 16, received the Catholic Scouting Awards earlier this month. The Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts received their awards from Bishop John J. Leibrecht at Old St. Vincent's Church in downtown Cape Girardeau. The Light of Christ Religious Emblem Award was presented to Tiger Cubs Stephen Hoffmeister, Cramer McGarr, Connor McGarr and Michael Peters. The Parvuli Dei (Children of God) Religious Emblem Award was presented to Cub Scouts Jacob Max Cieslewicz, Austin Charles Harter and Cole Thomas Howell. The Revs. Derek Swanson and Scott Sunnenburg, scouting chaplain, also attended the awards presentation.

Church to sponsor summer camp at Salvation Army

Greater Dimension Ministries will hold its annual Camp Care summer camp Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army. The camp is for children and youths ages 5 to 16 and will include classes, crafts, games and prizes. For information, contact Broderick Brevard at 334-8027.

Gospel singing planned at Shiloh Baptist in Villa Ridge

Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill., will hold a gospel singing at 7 p.m. June 5. The Gloryroad Travelers of Mounds will perform. For information, phone (618) 995-2306.

First General Baptist Church plans family fun day

First General Baptist Church in Jackson will hold a "Family Fun Day" from 10 a.m. to noon June 12 at the church. Several groups will set up booths, including the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department and Missouri Conservation Department. The church will kick off its "Kids Krusade" June 13 to 16. The crusade will be at 6 p.m. June 13 and at 7 p.m. June 14 to 16.

Hanover Lutheran installs music and youth director

Hanover Lutheran Church will install Keith Koenig as its new youth and music director during the 10 a.m. service Sunday. Koenig is a Jackson High School graduate and has a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He taught at Delta High School and St. Paul Lutheran School in Jackson. He and his wife, Jan, have four sons.
