Church Women United to hold Friendship Day dinner May 7
Church Women United, an ecumenical organization, will celebrate May Friendship Day May 7 at 6 p.m. with a dinner at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. Members are asked to donate a small fee for the meal. A program will be presented with the theme "In faith, women shape the future through friendship." Trinity Lutheran features guest speaker from Bosnian mission
The Rev. Antonio C. Boos, a missionary who works with Bosnians in St. Louis, will speak at the spring mission festival tonight and Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. He will preach at the 5:30 p.m. service today and at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. He also will discuss his mission work with the adult Bible class at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Boos works with Christian Friends of New Americans-Bosnian Mission in St. Louis. The program is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
First Tuesday prayer service marks gathering's fourth anniversary
The First Tuesday Noon Prayer service will mark its fourth anniversary Tuesday with an outdoor service at Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the community's National Day of Prayer events. The nationwide observance is Thursday. The First Tuesday Noon Prayer service is an interdenominational gathering of people who pray for the community.
