Cape Girardeau native to be ordained Sunday
Daniel E. Doss, a Cape Girardeau native and former minister of music and youth at First Baptist Church, will be ordained at 7 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Martin, Tenn.
Doss is serving as youth and music minister at Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie, Tenn. He is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Elwood Doss Jr., who are formerly of Cape Girardeau. Doss is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and is working on a master's degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
Jesus and Jazz service scheduled for Sunday
Centenary United Methodist Church will observe a pre-Lent Jazz Sunday during worship at 10:45 a.m. Lent marks the 40 days prior to Easter and begins with Ash Wednesday. Music will be featured from the Jerry Ford band during the service. A traditional service will be at 8 a.m.
Spiritual renewal seminar planned
Westminster Presbyterian Church will host a spiritual renewal conference Sunday through Wednesday. Special guest will be Dr. Alan Leach. He will speak at 10:45 a.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday.
Leach is author of "The Walk," which aims to foster a biblical foundation and prayer lifestyle.
Former Sikeston resident to play organ in NYC
Former Sikeston, Mo., resident Roger E. Craft will be the guest organist during services Sunday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New York City. The church is best known for its location on Times Square.
Craft will provide the music for the prelude and postlude during the service. Nancy Craft, his mother, will sing with the church's choir.
Craft is the son of Roger T. and Nancy J. Craft of Sikeston, Mo. He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. While living in Southeast Missouri, he played organ for the First Christian Church and Lutheran Chapel of Hope on campus.
