Presbyterian church selects evangelist pastor

Christ Presbyterian Church, an evangelical Presbyterian congregation in Cape Girardeau, has appointed Dr. Corbett Heimburger as evangelist, pastor. He will take the new position Jan. 1. Heimburger has served as associate pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and has been the national outreach director for the denomination. He has also been a missions coordinator with the denomination, pastor and chaplain. His wife, Carol, is a registered nurse. The couple have six children.

Shiloh Baptist to present gospel singing Dec. 7

Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill., will have gospel singing at 7 p.m. Dec. 7. Featured guests are the Gloryroad Travelers and The Moreheads. For information, phone (618) 995-2306.

Trinity women to hold annual holiday bazaar

Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau will hold its annual Ladies Junior Aid Holiday Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 6 in the church fellowship room. Crafts, baked goods, homemade candies and jellies, costume jewelry and glassware, antiques and other items will be for sale.

A chicken and dumpling lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Choir to hold festival of carols onDec. 7

The Adult Choir of St. Andrew Lutheran Church will present a "Festival of Lessons and Carols" at 4 p.m. Dec. 7 in the church sanctuary. The festival will feature special anthems, favorite Christmas songs and readings for the Advent and Christmas season.

New worship service to begin Sunday

First Baptist Church and the Baptist Student Center are teaming up for a new style of worship beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Baptist Student Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Mission founder to be speaker at area church

Saji Lukos, founder and executive director of Reaching Indians Ministries International, will be guest speaker at the 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services Dec. 7 at Grace Bible Evangelical Free Church in Cape Girardeau.

Christian Women's Club to meet Dec. 8 in Jackson

The Cape Girardeau County Christian Women's Club will meet at 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at Delmonico's in Jackson. The speaker is Verda Lockhart of O'Fallon, Mo., with music by Michele Wilder. Luncheon and child care reservations should be made by Dec. 4 by calling Bonnie Macke at 243-2866.
