Trinity Lutheran Church plans German service for Jan. 25
Trinity Lutheran Church is planning a German service Jan. 25 to mark the church's 150th anniversary. The service will include Old World customs when men sat on one side of the church and women on the other. There will be a catered German dinner and a band. The guest pastor is the Rev. Mark Gerken.
Six-week Bible class offered in Oran and Benton
A new study is being offered to help explain the Bible and other parallel historic events. The six-week study begins Wednesday. One session will be at 10 a.m. each Wednesday in the Oran Senior Citizens community room. The second session will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Benton United Methodist Church. March for Life bus trip to Washington, D.C., planned
The annual rally and March for Life will be Jan. 22 in Washington, D.C. A group from Southeast Missouri will be attending, leaving from St. Vincent de Paul Church at 9 a.m. Jan. 21. The group will attend the March for Life rally and a youth Mass. Cost is $125 per person. Contact Kathleen Keesee at 334-7298 for information.
Area churches to mark Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Area churches will observe the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Jan. 19 to 25. First Presbyterian Church in Jackson will host a breakfast service each weekday at 7 a.m. A celebration service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at Immaculate Conception in Jackson.
Hanover Lutheran women's retreat set for Feb. 7
Hanover Lutheran Church is holding a women's retreat Feb. 7. The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Lunch is provided. Speakers include Jean Seres, Karen Drury, president of the Cape Girardeau Lutheran Woman's Missionary League, and music from Alisha Walthers and Toni Becker. Church schedules benefit for parish school Jan. 31
Immaculate Conception Parish in Jackson will hold its "Taste of New Orleans" gala Jan. 31 at the Bavarian Halle in Jackson to benefit its school construction project. Cocktails and dinner will be served. Tickets are available by calling Marsha at 243-8869 or the church office at 243-3182.
