Most of the blast will occur under water. The nearby Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge and Aquamsi Street will be closed to traffic for about 10 minutes as a precaution. A barge-mounted crane will clean up the pier debris. Winter weather had delayed the final demolition work since late last year, officials said.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The owner of a septic tank service must spend two days in jail and pay $6,000 for a fish kill caused by his illegal dumping of molasses and water into a sinkhole. Stephen Lindsey of German Septic Service of Springfield was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of discharging contaminants into state waters. Lindsey was charged in November after Missouri Department of Natural Resources investigators discovered about 50,000 gallons of waste molasses and water from the Purina Mill had been dumped into the sinkhole on Lindsey's property.
