Cape driver's license exam station moving

Effective Thursday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol's driver's license examination station in Cape Girardeau will move to a new location at 3102 Blattner Road, Suite 104. Currently the station is in the Osage Community Centre in Cape Girardeau. Hours and dates of operation will remain the same.

Whitewater man injured after tractor collision

An 88-year-old Whitewater man sustained moderate injuries Monday on Route OO 2.5 miles south of Burfordville. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 3:06 p.m. when Buford Helderman, driving a northbound 1957 Ford tractor, was attempting to make a left turn. A 1995 Ford driven by Gray Brammer, 39, of Marble Hill, Mo., attempted to pass him, and Helderman's tractor collided with the car. He was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Three guards injured in Potosi prison disturbance

POTOSI, Mo. -- Three guards at the Potosi Correctional Center were injured when they were attacked by a group of inmates, Missouri Department of Corrections spokesman John Fougere said Tuesday. The incident happened at around 10 p.m. Monday. Names of those involved have not been released, and no charges have been filed. The guards were attacked by a group of between four and 10 men, Fougere said. The guards were treated for cuts and bruises; no prisoners were hurt. The skirmish was under control in about 15 minutes.
