Southeast lecturer to discuss modernism

Southeast Missouri State University English professor Dr. Debrah Raschke will be the featured speaker at the university English department's annual H.O. Grauel Lecture at 3 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Auditorium in Dempster Hall. Raschke will discuss modernism in literature and its interplay with sexuality. Raschke recently published a book on British modernism titled "Modernism, Metaphysics and Sexuality." The lecture is free and open to the public. 911 operators to be honored at ceremony

The Cape Girardeau police and fire departments will recognize their 911 communicators at a special ceremony at 1 p.m. today. A proclamation will be presented to the employees of the communications center during the brief ceremony recognizing their efforts. The event will take place in the training room at the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 40 S. Sprigg St. This week is National Telecommunications Week.
