Perry County man missing since Friday morning

Vernon J. Joggerst, 50, left his residence on Perry County Road 614 Friday morning and has not been seen or heard from since, according to the Perry County Sheriff's Department. Joggerst was last seen driving a red 1985 GMC pickup, bearing Missouri license number 242-KH1. He was wearing work boots, blue jeans and a black and white striped shirt with an MFA logo and his name on it. He is 6 feet tall, has green eyes and black hair that is slightly graying and weighs approximately 180 pounds. Foul play is not suspected and Joggerst is not armed, on medications or considered to be a danger to others, Sheriff Gary Schaaf said.

Gunshot victim's family says not self-defense

The Cairo, Ill., man shot to death Monday afternoon at an East Cape Girardeau home was not shot by someone in self-defense, said his sister, Sharon McCoy of Mound City, Ill. McCoy said this information was told to the family of Glen Lang Jr., 38, by an Illinois State Police investigator. However, police aren't sharing any new developments in the shooting death with the public. On Wednesday, Capt. Debra Landman said she could only confirm that no charges have been filed and that the incident is still under investigation.

Sikeston man arrested on outstanding warrants

Shaun Cole, 25, of Sikeston, Mo., was arrested Tuesday by Sikeston police on two active warrants as they executed a search warrant on his room at the Midtowner Motel. Officers were acting on a tip that Cole was selling marijuana from his room. Cole was arrested on a Miner, Mo., warrant for contempt of court and a Cape Girardeau County warrant for stealing. Additional charges for drug distribution are pending, sheriff's officials said. More than 400 grams of marijuana was recovered during the search. Scott County deputies assisted in the search.
