POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A Poplar Bluff couple faces six felony stealing charges after the wife reportedly confessed to their role in a month-long string of pickpocketing and purse snatching occurring in stores all over town. Andrea Leigh Lee, 24, and her husband, Jedediah Rayne Lee, 25, were arrested after a woman reported them to police Monday at the Community Action Agency in Poplar Bluff. That woman previously caught Andrea Lee at Fred's department store going through her purse, which was sitting in a shopping cart. Andrea Lee reportedly admitted to police that she and her husband had lifted around $1,000 in cash, numerous credit cards and several prescription drugs from purses at Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Kmart and Wal-Mart between Dec. 11 and 21.
BENTON, Mo. -- A Rockview man says he won't be railroaded without a fight. Lester Glastetter of Rockview said during the regular Scott County Commission meeting Tuesday that he is filing two lawsuits against the Union Pacific Railroad. Glastetter said he has 28 acres in Rockview, some of it near where the Union Pacific Railroad plans to put in a connection curve. He said state statutes say trains can't block crossings for longer than five minutes; must provide adequate drainage to prevent flooding; must keep crossings and right-of-ways clear of vegetation; and must respond within 60 days of a written complaint. He said the railroad has also not engaged in "good faith dealing" by offering a neighbor $3.57 per square foot for property while he was only offered 15 cents per square foot.
