Cape businesses report burglary incidents

Several Cape Girardeau business on South Kingshighway were burglarized this week. The five businesses, at 760 S. Kingshighway, reported break-ins between Sunday evening and early Monday morning, police Cpl. Jason Selzer said. The front glass door to American Family Insurance was broken out, and the business reported an undisclosed amount of cash stolen, Selzer said. Four other businesses next to American Family Insurance had their back doors pried open, but nothing was stolen. Files and drawers in all of the businesses were rifled through, according to Selzer. No one was in custody, and police have no suspects.

BIEHLE, Mo. -- One northbound lane of Interstate 55 in Perry County will be closed due to construction work later this week. The section of roadway near mile marker 123 by Biehle, will be reduced to one lane between 6:30 a.m. Thursday and 5 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Crews will be replacing concrete in the area while the lanes are reduced, the release stated. Motorists were urged to use caution when driving in the area.

Fourth shooting suspect arrested by authorities

The man suspected as the fourth gunman in a series of shootings in Cape Girardeau was arrested in Scott County. Pervis J. Boyd, 24, was arrested by Scott County officials early Sunday morning, Cape Girardeau police Cpl. Jason Selzer said. With Boyd's arrest, police are only seeking Terrvell K. Williams, 21, of 504 S. Hanover St., in connection to a string of Cape Girardeau shootings from earlier this month. Those previously arrested included Boyd's relative, Marquies C. Boyd, 22, Robert Rodriguez, 21, and Keiven S. Cole Jr., 21. All five men are charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon and had a cash-only bond set at $250,000. No one was injured in any of the shootings, which targeted at least five properties between Oct. 17 and 19.
