Trout season begins Saturday at Rotary Lake
The city of Jackson's inaugural trout season begins Saturday.
As part of a joint agreement with the Missouri Department of Conservation, Wal-Mart and Trout Unlimited, the city of Jackson has agreed to stock Rotary Lake with rainbow trout.
A brief ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.
Anglers need a fishing license and must use artificial lures. They must also release any trout they catch until Feb. 1, when harvesting season begins. A trout permit is required after Feb. 1.
Jackson to switch stops at Forest and Olive
Motorists who travel on Forest and Olive streets in Jackson will notice a different traffic pattern beginning Tuesday.
Eastbound traffic on Olive Street will be required to stop, while northbound traffic on Forest will no longer have to stop.
Public works director Rodney Bollinger said this change was deemed necessary because recent improvements in the area have made East Independence Street a primary route in this location.
Man accused of causing accident pleads guilty
LEXINGTON, Mo. -- A man accused of causing an accident that killed a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper has pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges.
Paul Daniel, of New Hampton, said Tuesday he leaned over to grab his sunglasses from the dashboard because the sun was blinding him. His pickup truck hit a patrol car.
