The Board of Regents is expected to approve plans for an international business major and a business administration minor at Southeast Missouri State University.
The regents will consider such a move when they meet at 1:30 p.m. today at the Show Me Center.
Circuit Judge William L. Syler will swear in Regent Donald Harrison of Cape Girardeau to a new term on the board.
Harrison was appointed to the regents by then-governor John Ashcroft in 1989.
He was elected board president in 1993. He stepped down from that position last October.
The international business major would prepare students for managerial careers in international business, school officials said.
The university developed the major based on a survey of students enrolled at Southeast, high school students, counselors and businesses in the region.
The minor in business administration would prepare students for continued study in business at the graduate level and help prepare them for entry-level positions in businesses related to their fields, school officials said.
In other action, the board will consider setting fees for the doctorate program in education.
The program involves Southeast, as well as Central Missouri, Northwest Missouri, Southwest Missouri, and the University of Missouri Columbia and Rolla campuses.
All students in the program would pay the same amount as the fees assessed by the University of Missouri, regardless of where they are enrolled.
The fees are $157.90 a credit hour for Missouri residents and $474.90 a credit hour for non-residents, Southeast officials said.
