Reed's Restaurant has opened at the Town House Inn, 505 N. Kingshighway.

"We've been wanting to open a restaurant to go along with our catering business," said Russ Reed, who also operates Reed Catering Service.

The restaurant is open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Hours may be expanded, said Reed.

"We feature a breakfast menu and home-cooked plate-lunch specials," said Reed. "The lunch menu, which features ground round, grilled chicken breast and other sandwiches, includes a choice of a chef's salad."

Also involved in the restaurant is Reed's son, Michael Reed, who has been in Cape Girardeau about a year. The younger Reed is dining room manager,

"We make our own homemade biscuits and rolls," said Russ Reed. "We also have a line of homemade desserts, which includes bread puddings, cobblers and pies."

The restaurant, which can seat 75 to 80 customers, is in the old "Rose Room" restaurant that was previously operated by owners of the motel, Lynn and Betty Thompson.

The motel and restaurant have been completely redecorated.

"We can also provide space for small meetings, banquets, private parties and wedding-rehearsal dinners," said Reed.

Reed has been in the Cape Girardeau area six years and has been involved in sales and marketing with an interest in food service until last fall, when he opened the catering service.

"We provide catering of all types," said Reed. "That includes business luncheons, church dinners, home dinners, wedding receptions, and any other occasion that calls for a special meal. We also prepare box lunches for bus trips."
