Southeast Missouri State track and field coach Joey Haines was honored as Ohio Valley Conference women's indoor coach of the year for the second straight season following the Redhawks' victory over the weekend at the OVC Indoor Championships in Charleston, Ill.

The Redhawks rolled to their second straight OVC indoor women's title with 155 points. Host Eastern Illinois was a distant second with 119.5.

Southeast freshman Kathy Coleman was named the OVC Athlete of the Championship after winning the 60-meter dash and triple jump, while placing second in the long jump and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.

Coleman also last week captured two awards for the entire OVC indoor season, winning Field Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Tennis falls on road

The Southeast women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to undefeated Northern Iowa Sunday afternoon in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Southeast fell to 3-5 while the Panthers improved to 7-0. The Redhawks begin Ohio Valley Conference play Wednesday at Murray State and play their first home match Saturday against Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m.
