Southeast Missouri State University's softball team dropped its first game at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., on Monday, falling 5-4 to Columbia.
The Redhawks (5-6), which had started the tournament 4-0, surrendered a run in the bottom of the seventh to fall to Columbia. Amy Fahnestock took the loss, allowing five runs -- four earned -- in four and two-thirds innings.
Lindsay Pickering led the Redhawks with three hits. Stephanie Huffman had a pair of hits and three RBIs. Lyndsey Webb added two hits, and Callie Brittan had the other RBI for Southeast.
Southeast's second game on Monday against Rider was rained out. The Redhawks are scheduled to play Northern Colorado and George Washington today when the Rebel Spring Games continue.
Redhawks tennis fall to OVC foe
Southeast's tennis team suffered a 6-1 road loss to Jacksonville State in Ohio Valley Conference action on Monday.
The Redhawks fell to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the OVC. Southeast will travel to Pensacola, Fla., for a Wednesday match against West Florida.
