The Red House Interpretive Center in Cape Girardeau will kick off July activities with limited hours from 6 to 8 p.m. July 4 so the community can enjoy the Old Town Cape-sponsored Fourth of July celebration, including fireworks on the river.
The exhibition of 27 historical American flags will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 7 in front of the Red House on the South Main Street median. Interpretive plaques coordinate with each flag. Representatives of the local chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be in uniform.
At 3 p.m. July 14, nationally known folk musician Mark Dvorak will perform a concert at the Red House. Bring lawn chairs. In case of rain or extremely hot temperatures, the Dvorak concert will be held at Old Saint Vincent's Church, directly across from the Red House.
At 2 p.m. July 28, storyteller Dean Allison will feature African-American tales at the Red House.
