The American Red Cross honored its 2014 Everyday Heroes on Thursday at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau.
Recognized for their courage and service were Nolan Weber of Jackson, who died of brain cancer last year; Cory Beussink of Jackson, who is a pediatric physical therapist at SoutheastHEALTH Outpatient Rehabilitation; and Ron and JoAnn Hahs of Daisy, Missouri, who volunteer all over the country.
"All you have to do is say, 'I will. I can. I shall,'" said JoAnn Hahs, a retired teacher, during a video clip before accepting the award. "Once you do this kind of thing, you want to do more."
All proceeds from the awards luncheon benefited disaster relief in Southeast Missouri. Sponsors included the Red Cross, the casino and KFVS12.
