The American Red Cross is hoping to rebuild its dwindling blood supply by offering donors several area locations where they can give blood.

Blood drives are scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cape Bible Chapel; from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Perry Park Center in Perryville; and from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Sikeston Factory Outlet Stores and at Westfield Shoppingtown West Park.

Several of the drives continue for more than one day.

The Red Cross' blood supply has been diminished by cases of the flu. Hospitals in the region are beginning to see the effects of a diminished blood supply, Red Cross officials say.

"Patients are counting on us to supply them with the blood they need to survive and we will do everything we can to support them," said Christine Bales, CEO of American Red Cross blood services for Missouri and Illinois.
