NEW YORK -- Rosie O'Donnell has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to help victims of last week's terrorist attacks.

The talk show host made the donation from her personal account -- not from her charity, The For All Kids Foundation -- the day after the Sept. 11 attacks in New York and Washington.

"She hopes that other people follow and give what they can, whether it's time or money," her spokeswoman, Jennifer Glaisek, said Wednesday.

Hollywood newspaper lands new editor

LOS ANGELES -- Howard Burns was named editor of The Hollywood Reporter, replacing an editor who resigned after a story questioning the ethics of one of the trade paper's columnists was spiked.

Burns, 41, has been with the publication for 13 years, most recently as deputy editor. He held a variety of jobs before that, including managing editor, executive editor for television, news editor and international general manager.

He replaces Anita Busch, who resigned in April, a week after the paper's labor reporter quit. Those two, along with the paper's film editor, left after Publisher Robert J. Dowling refused to run a story alleging that one of the paper's columnists accepted favors from a movie company.

Lopez seeks roots through concerts

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Jennifer Lopez will perform two concerts in Puerto Rico this weekend that will be filmed for television and shown throughout the United States.

"It's going to be something very beautiful and I really believe it's a show that comes from my soul and my heart," she said Tuesday.

Born in New York to Puerto Rican parents, Lopez said she had wanted to hold the concerts in San Juan "for my music and my people."

Lopez, who arrived on Monday, is to perform Friday and Saturday at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.

The concert is to be taped by NBC and will be shown in late November, promoters said.
